Lagos, Nigeria – Nollywood’s fresh take on young adult drama, UniLife, made a sensational debut in Lagos on Sunday, sending waves of excitement across the entertainment scene. The star-studded premiere, hosted by 9jaStudio Entertainment, drew cast members, industry stakeholders, influencers, and the media to its Magodo-based production hub, where the spotlight shone on a series already being hailed as a game-changer for African youth narratives.

The night kicked off in grand style with a lively red carpet session—full of glam, interviews, and behind-the-scenes gist—streamed live via 9jaStudio’s YouTube channel. By 6 PM, attendees had taken their seats in an elegant banquet-style setup inside the studio’s double-volume hall, eagerly watching the first three explosive episodes of UniLife directly on their mobile devices.

From emotional gasps to loud cheers, the crowd’s reactions said it all—UniLife is striking a nerve with Gen-Z audiences. Set against the vibrant backdrop of a Nigerian university, the series follows the lives of students grappling with love, secrets, peer pressure, cultism, and identity crises. But things take a chilling turn when the mysterious death of a missing student sends shockwaves through campus.

Speaking at the event, 9jaStudio Founder and Showrunner, Mr. Frank Adekunle Macaulay, said UniLife goes beyond entertainment. “This is real storytelling—raw, urgent, and authentic. We’re showing campus life as it truly is, from the laughter to the wahala,” he said. “The youth want stories that reflect their world. UniLife gives them that—with style and substance.”

The premiere also served as a showcase for emerging talents trained at the 9jaStudio Screen Acting Boot Camp (SABC), a platform grooming the next generation of Nollywood stars. Many cast members are Boot Camp alumni, having received rigorous training in screen acting before landing their roles.

With a Gen-Z-dominated cast and crew, UniLife marks a bold step into a new Nollywood era—unfiltered, fearless, and youth-driven. Macaulay, who boasts over 20 years of experience in youth-focused content, reaffirmed his commitment to creating space for young voices.

New episodes of UniLife will be released every Thursday throughout June, with Episode 4 dropping on June 5 and the grand finale (Episode 7) airing June 26.

9jaStudio’s mission, according to Macaulay, is simple but revolutionary: “To build the next generation of African storytellers and put their truth on screen.”
